Check out what’s happening at Atlantis Physical & Occupational Therapy:
It’s that time of year again to vote for Best Physical Therapy Center and Best Knee Center in the South Bay. The Reader’s Choice Awards is celebrating 35 years and is sponsored by the Daily Breeze and Beach Reporter. Voting is open through Sunday, April 5th. We appreciate all the support we have had from our amazing patients over the years for this award and would be most grateful if you could once again take the time to cast your vote for us.
Stronger bones require the right kind of exercise. Our Osteopenia & Osteoporosis Strength Program has been enhanced to incorporate the latest research on resistance and impact training for improving bone density.
Through supervised strength training and targeted functional exercises, patients work to build bone strength, improve balance, and reduce fracture risk while maintaining mobility and independence.
This specialized program provides a safe and structured approach to bone health for patients throughout the Torrance and South Bay area.
Shockwave Therapy Featured on NPR
A recent NPR health story highlighted shockwave therapy, a non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic waves to stimulate healing and reduce pain.
The therapy is commonly used for conditions such as plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, trigger finger, and other stubborn tendon and soft tissue injuries. According to Dr. Joshua Romero, a sports medicine physician at Mayo Clinic, shockwave therapy “allows patients to maintain their sport or active lifestyle while still getting treatment.”
Atlantis Physical and Occupational Therapy offers shockwave therapy as part of our treatment options to help patients recover and return to activity.
The research is becoming increasingly clear: lifestyle plays a major role in helping prevent or slow cognitive decline. Studies continue to show that structured programs combining exercise, cognitive engagement, nutrition, and vascular health management can support brain function as we age.
A recent article from the Pacific Neuroscience Institute highlights their findings in the Prevention Study that discusses how comprehensive lifestyle approaches may positively impact important factors linked to brain health, including blood flow and metabolic health.
More recently, the U.S. POINTER study led by the Alzheimer’s Association found that older adults participating in a structured lifestyle intervention program showed improvements in cognitive function over two years.
The good news is that Atlantis Physical and Occupational Therapy has been implementing these research-supported principles through our structured Brain Health program. Our program integrates exercise, cognitive engagement, and functional training in ways that remain relatively unique in rehabilitation settings and place Atlantis among clinics helping lead the way in applying this emerging science.
Now is a promising time to take control of your brain health.
